Lavaud, born and raised in Hackney, East London, is a singer-songwriter whose music reflects her rich cultural heritage. With roots tracing back to the island of Mauritius, Lavaud was deeply influenced by the diverse sounds of Zouk, Sega, and Seggae, alongside the iconic works of R&B legends like Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson. In October 2023, Lavaud made a significant splash with her single "Roll on Me," produced by Kel-P and Trakmatik, featuring Tiwa Savage, Kanis, Reekado Banks, and Patoranking. The track amassed over 10 million streams across various platforms and marked Lavaud's entry into global recognition, landing spots on the Billboard Global Digital Song Sales and US Afrobeat charts within its first week.
